Dr. Richard Ko, PharmD, PhD, is a former Food and Drug Scientist at the California Department of Health Services, where he was actively involved in regulating dietary supplements and investigating herbal products-related injury and death. He is the founder of Herbal Synergy, a consulting company specializing in US food and drug regulations. Dr. Ko assists clients in achieving legal sale status of their herbal and dietary supplement products, licensing, validation of process and equipment, facility audit and management, and training of personnel.

Dr. Ko will deliver a 50-minute lecture, with 10 minutes for questions, regarding herbal and dietary supplements (HDS). His lecture will focus in particular on the following: HDS safety concerns, therapeutic benefits, regulatory hurdles, and industry directions.
