Strong inhibition of the DJ-1 (Park7) protein by which chemical class of pesticides was found to potentially be involved in the development of Parkinson’s Disease?
The thiocarbamates (e.g. mancozeb, maneb, propineb, thiram, triallat, zineb, ziram) were found to be major inhibitors of DJ-1. Because DJ-1 is involved in the protection against glycation processes, this strong inhibitory effect may contribute to the development of Parkinson’s Disease.
